Joel is such a joy to be around on your wedding day. He has such a positive energy, is so easy going yet an incredible photographer. He was so helpful throughout the entire journey, made us have full trust in him to capture gorgeous moments and was honestly like have a friend with you on your day! Couldn’t recommend anyone else to capture your wedding day, we are both super awkward and he made everything beautiful!

  • If you’re going to travel across the Atlantic to get married you want to choose somewhere extraordinary. K&L chose Castle Howard; and what a beautiful day they made of it. The grandest of rooms, flowers spilling down the staircase, an incredible setting for their ceremony and gorgeous afternoon sunshine in the gardens. There was so much thought behind every detail and I absolutely loved photographing it all. But my favourite thing about days like this is finding those quieter, more personal moments amongst all the grandeur. The happy tears, the little looks between two people, a few minutes away from everyone else just enjoying being married. A gorgeous celebration and a wonderful couple. Thank you for having me.   • I’m always going to love the beautiful details. The flowers, the fashion, the incredible venues; and Howsham Hall certainly had all of that. But what I love even more is watching people really enjoy their wedding. There’s so much time and thought that goes into planning a day like this, and when it finally arrives, I want my couples to be right in the middle of it. Laughing with their friends, celebrating with their families, taking a little time together and just being themselves. Of course we’ll make time for some gorgeous portraits. But for the rest of it, I want you to forget about the photographs and enjoy everything you’ve worked so hard to create. That’s what I’m there for.   • Been reflecting a little on the year so far, and feeling pretty grateful for where life has taken me. Nearly twenty years of photographing weddings, and sometimes I forget just how much this career has given me. Not just the places I’ve travelled or the incredible people I’ve met, but the things that really matter. A home I love. A life in the countryside. Three wonderful, slightly feral kids. And the freedom to enjoy the simple things with the people I love most. None of it happened overnight. There have been plenty of long days, late nights and ups and downs along the way. But looking around at the life we’ve built, I’m reminded that all those years behind a camera have given me so much more than a career. And that’s something I’ll never take for granted. ❤️

The first time your Dad sees you in your dress, that smile when you see each other at the end of the aisle, all those quiet moments you may not even realise are happening. It’s such a privilege to be there to witness them and to know that in twenty or thirty years time; these photographs will still be telling your story.   • Who says the portraits have to stop when the sun goes down? One of my favourite things about autumn and winter weddings is the opportunity to get creative with flash photography. Something a little different from the daytime portraits; more playful, a touch editorial and always so much fun.
