Captivating Weddings at Goldsborough Hall

Goldsborough Hall is such a picturesque setting and provides a beautiful backdrop for a wedding day. Goldsborough Hall is a 16th-century historic house in North Yorkshire and is the former home of Princess Mary. The hotel offers five-star luxury accommodation, 3 AA rosette dining and the incredible gardens have won numerous awards. The Hall stands in beautifully photogenic, landscaped grounds with unspoilt views over tranquil parkland, making it one of the most exclusive and beautiful wedding venues in the UK. There are 16 bedrooms and suites at the Hall and 5 rooms at their sister property, The Bay Horse Inn.

Couples also have the option to host their wedding service in St Mary’s Church which adjoins Goldsborough Hall. The 13th-century St Mary’s, stands adjacent to the Hall’s grounds and even has its own private royal entrance in the south wall – it is absolutely perfect for photographs and combining a church wedding with your reception at Goldsborough Hall.

If the weather is good, couples often choose to walk from Goldsborough Hall down the pretty lane to St Mary’s Church for their wedding ceremony. The natural light during the day works its magic, casting a flattering glow on the Bride and her Bridesmaids; adding an ethereal quality to the already captivating surroundings. As a wedding photographer, I always strive to take advantage of such beautiful natural light, as it brings out the best in everyone and creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that translates beautifully into photographs.

Goldsborough Hall, with its rich history and breathtaking beauty, serves as the perfect photographic backdrop for a reception. Originally built by Sir Richard Hutton in the 17th century, the hall boasts a very impressive past, having welcomed royalty – including HRH Princess Mary; who once had the pleasure of calling it home. The historic charm and elegance of the hall, coupled with its meticulously manicured gardens, make it a truly exceptional wedding venue in Yorkshire, offering couples a luxurious and romantic setting for their special day.

As your wedding photographer it is so important to me that our journey together is also completely personal to you; to make sure the we capture the essence of your love story throughout your day at Goldsborough Hall. From our first chat to the delivery of your timeless, beautiful wedding photographs; it is paramount to me that I offer you not just a fantastic product but a connection that is genuine – whether you’re looking for help with planning your day, advice about suppliers, or just someone to use as a sounding board for your ideas!

Winter weddings exude a really unique yet enchanting charm, turning the cold season into a backdrop for unparalleled beauty throughout your images. Goldsborough Hall creates a stylish yet cosy ambience, with flickering candles and warm hues, adding an intimate touch to a wedding celebration and your photographs. Embracing the chill, I love to take couples out for a wander around the grounds of Goldsborough Hall so we can capture a set of relaxed and natural portraits; the crisp air adding an ethereal feel to the gardens, effortlessly weaving romance and warmth amidst the frosty landscape.

Spring and Summer weddings at Goldsborough Hall see the gardens come to life. The snowdrops and daffodils give way to beautiful bushes of blooms; couples love to take a stroll down the herbaceous borders planned out by Princess Mary, there is a picturesque woodland walk through the 12 acres of Goldsborough Hall, and the incredible glasshouse next to the kitchen gardens are a tranquil, unique spot for wedding photographs before ending with a wander along Lime Tree Walk.

The Orangery at Goldsborough Hall was added in 2016; the owners wanted to add another dimension to the space available to celebrate weddings at Goldsborough Hall. The Orangery sits between the Hall and the 19th Century Dower House; to create a space that can be used throughout the year – the glass roof means that the space remains flooded with picturesque, natural light; beautiful for photographs of the flowers and details picked out for your wedding table designs.

In the summer, the photogenic Orangery with its exposed brick wall and flagstone floor comes into its own. The doors of the Orangery open out on to the Terrace of Goldsborough Hall; perfect for drinks and lawn games in the late evening sunshine. The clean lines and fresh decoration make it the perfect blank canvas for couples to add their own personality through wedding flowers, impressive cakes and colour themes.

A drinks reception in the Jacobean Library or outside in the Hall gardens is the perfect chance to relax and chat with guests; beautiful candidly-shot pictures of laughter, catching up with old friends, plentiful canapés served by the fantastic staff team at Goldsborough Hall who work so hard to look after you and your family during your wedding stay. The canapés themselves are small works of art; presented to look so pretty and delicious as the waiting staff team wander amongst your guests to ensure everyone is enjoying themselves in the surroundings of the luxurious wedding venue.

Dinner is served in The Orangery at Goldsborough Hall; the pictures I take showcase the beautiful venue with it’s white clothed tables adorned with exquisite floral arrangements designed by your luxury floral designer. Place cards with calligraphy show each guest where to take their seat for dinner; wedding favours are a popular small gift for your guests to show your appreciation for them joining you to celebrate such a special occasion. I love to take photographs of all of the details that you choose for your wedding day. Your wedding cake will be showcased by Goldsborough Hall on an intricate cake stand in the room; ready for the photograph as you cut the cake for the first time and smile for a picture in front of all of your wedding guests.

After an incredible dinner cooked by Goldsborough Hall’s award-winning chefs, the speeches will take centre stage, providing a heartfelt and humorous story to both entertain your guests and provide a touching memory of your wedding day. The backdrop of the gardens in spring and summer; or twinkling candlelight reflection from the glass surroundings in the Orangery make these photographs look incredible and moving; a lasting visual reminder of the works spoken on your day to commemorate your nuptials.

Later into the evening; music will often play a pivotal role in setting the mood – a live band or wedding DJ will not disappoint, filling the dance floor with irresistible energy to keep your celebration going well into the night. Couples often tend to have a Saxophonist play alongside a wedding DJ in the evening; a cool, Ibiza style vibe for the night to dance and party with your friends. Photographing the dance floor at a wedding is so much fun; shooting through the lens, using flash and being in the moment to capture the most incredible pictures for you to re-live your party when you see your photos.
