As a Middleton Lodge Wedding Photographer I have the luxury of this wedding location being one of my closest wedding venues to home in Richmond, North Yorkshire. If you’re looking for a photographer to capture your beautiful wedding at Middleton Lodge then I would love to be considered to be a part your wedding day! Middleton Lodge Estate is made up of two wedding venues; the Middleton Lodge Main House and the Fig House venue with Walled Gardens and Boiler Bar. Middleton Lodge also offer the exclusive option to hire both venues on the Estate for your wedding day; offering you the luxury of all the Estate accommodation and an incredible choice of stylish locations for your ceremony, reception and dancing. Weddings at Middleton Lodge are always beautiful, luxurious, timeless – it’s the perfect backdrop for gorgeous weddings.
As you step into The Fig House, you are greeted by a flood of natural light streaming through expansive windows, casting a gentle glow on the stylish interiors. The sleek lines and modern aesthetics create an inviting atmosphere, while the thoughtful use of earthy tones and textures pays homage to the estate’s natural beauty. The Fig House is not just a venue; it’s an experience. The indoor-outdoor design allows guests to flow effortlessly between the chic interiors and the enchanting garden beyond. Middleton Lodge offers an intimate and exclusive atmosphere, allowing couples to create a personal and meaningful celebration. The estate’s commitment to hosting a limited number of weddings ensures that each couple receives individual attention. Interiors are refined, yet relaxed – this is a place to feel at home, where guests are encouraged to sit back and settle in.
Middleton Lodge is a beautiful Yorkshire Retreat that has been lovingly restored by the Allison family; but has its roots deep in history. Middleton Lodge benefits from a variety of accommodation across the Estate – 36 in all; hotel bedrooms, Shepherd’s huts, hot tub rooms and the excellently-titled Doghouse! The Walled Gardens can be explored by guests between 7am – 9am each day; the gardens were redesigned by Tom Stuart-Smith in 2014 and they provide the inspiration to each individually designed space across the Estate. Sustainability is key at Middleton Lodge when planning its current and future estate developments. James Allison; the owner and Managing Director of Middleton Lodge is passionate about rebuilding and conserving the Estate to preserve the land for the future.
Idyllic country gardens are brought to life surrounding the beautiful Fig House; designed to bring the outside in with velvet soft greens, garden antiques and real fig trees. Ceremonies at the Fig House can be held either in the Boiler House bar; tucked away behind the stone archways of the Fig House; or outside on the terrace overlooking the immaculate Walled Gardens. The Fig House is where your wedding feast will be served; couples have a choice of how to seat their guests, with long or round tables both looking utterly beautiful adorned with florals and twinkling candles, a cloud of flowers hanging beneath the incredible glass ceiling. The sleek and contemporary design elements of the Fig House create a unique atmosphere, showcasing the couple’s impeccable taste. Every detail, from the décor to the Champagne, carefully chosen to reflect each couples’ vision for their special day.
The Walled Gardens are filled with lush greenery and British flower scents alongside four arbours – one dedicated to each season. The floor to ceiling windows and doors of the original, restored Fig House open onto the large terrace and flood the space indoors with incredible natural light; Fig vines trailing up the brick walls. The Boiler House Bar, where delicious garden cocktails are served, is complete with deep velvet green sofas, open fires and handpicked botanically inspired antiques. In the spring and summer months, the honey-coloured stone, lavender and wildflowers bring an atmosphere of Mediterranean escape to Middleton Lodge Estate. In autumn and winter, roaring fires, hearty dishes and flickering candles bring a sense of warmth to every space.
Up to 90 guests can celebrate Walled Garden ceremonies in the Fig House, with space for 130 guests to dine. In the evening, there’s room for 200 guests to dance the night away. Ten bedrooms, both Potting Sheds and Orchard Rooms, can be hired exclusively for each wedding, with additional rooms available to reserve on request.
The Yorkshire Dales are home to exceptional local produce, and couples can incorporate this into their wedding menus. Middleton Lodge prides themselves on offering gourmet dining experiences with their ethos of ‘from estate to plate.’ Your seasonal wedding feast will be inspired by produce sourced from the estate and Yorkshire countryside. The Kitchen Garden is also the source of inspiration for their drinks list. Using fresh fruit and herbs from the Kitchen Garden their mixologists have curated a range of delicious, fresh cocktails. The wine lists have been created by Middleton Lodge Estate’s sommelier, sourced from a range of regions.
The Main House at Middleton Lodge comprises four elegantly decorated reception rooms leading from a sweeping, fairytale staircase with sixteen bedrooms within the Georgian house. Each of the rooms exudes original Georgian, 18th Century character; incredibly sophisticated and charming in its grandeur. The Main House has spectacular views and a panoramic backdrop; the croquet lawn giving way to parkland and woodland walks; the private marquee set amongst lush planted gardens with towering trees making it feel secluded despite its acreage.
Ceremonies in the Main House can be held in a number of incredible locations around the Estate; the Drawing Room, Hallways with its grand staircase, or in the summer many couples choose to hold there wedding outside on the lawn and under the wooden Pavilion with the scent of roses all around them. For your drinks reception; imagine the waiting staff wandering through the Library bar and Drawing Room with beautiful presented and exquisite tasting canapés whilst topping up your glass with cool crisp Champagne – or walk down the stone steps being showered with confetti and soak up some summer Champagne on the terrace whilst your guests enjoy the quintessential croquet lawn – Middleton Lodge really is the perfect English countryside escape for you and your guests to relax and enjoy your wedding day in lush surroundings; steeped in luxury.
The Dining Room in the Main House can seat 32 guests for dining and larger wedding receptions take place in the delightful garden marquee. Some couples choose to have a Piper lead them into the celebrations, with napkins waving throughout the air as you make your way through your guests to take your seats for a delectable wedding breakfast. Lush floral arrangements, beautiful place cards and napkins tied with sweet bows as you take your seats under statement chandeliers in the marquee; with twinkling candles reflecting from wine glasses and sounds of your guests chatting away in the background adding to the happiest of atmospheres. One of the most unique features of the Main House is the Cellar Bar for your late-night after party; which is licensed until 2am for you to continue the night. There is nothing quite like heading down the hidden staircase, seeing the vibrant party lights and thumping bass of a DJ to create a late night vibe.
